In her third season as a cross country runner for Owasso High School, sophomore Kate Stocksen is enjoying one of her best seasons for the Rams. Stocksen started running while in middle school and loved the sport.
“I started running cross country in eighth grade and this is my third season,” Stocksen said. “I enjoy running because it is a great opportunity to challenge myself. I like that our coach reminds us that “simple ain’t easy” through rigorous training in what may seem like a “simple” sport.”
Stocksen said the runners for Owasso are a close group, thanks in part to the hard workouts.
“You can’t help but bond with teammates through all the sweat and tears of training. I love that we encourage and push each other when it would be easy to give up. It makes the team feel like a family,” said Stocksen.
The sophomore is involved in National Honor Society and her youth group at church. Her future plans include more competing in cross country and after she graduates, Stocksen said she would love to compete in college.
“I plan to attend college and would love to run if I get the opportunity,” said Stocksen.
