Offense
The Owasso Rams are entering this season after a tough semi-final playoff loss to end last year’s campaign. While they lost some starters, head coach Bill Blankenship says that his team will lean on returning players to help navigate this season. “We are excited about the depth that continues to develop on our squad,” he said. “We are counting on our experienced players to carry us while we identify and develop the areas we lost.” Quarterback Austin Havens (6-4, 185, Jr.) will be leading the Rams’ offense this season. He threw for 2,052 yards and 24 touchdowns a year ago and is looking for another solid season. Havens will have a host of new big men lined up in front of him as the team lost six offensive linemen to graduation. The Rams will be looking for players to step up and fill the open spots that have been vacated. While the line will be new faces for Havens, the receiving corps that he will be throwing to are players he is familiar with. Kelan Carney (6-1, 175, Sr.), Ronnie Thomas (5-11, 180, Sr.), Cole Adams (5-11, 170, Jr.), and Jaray Austin (5-11, 170, Sr.) combined for 1,702 receiving yards and 20 touchdowns. Adams was named to the VYPE Top 100 and has an offer from the University of Tulsa. Joining Havens in the backfield are the team’s top two rushers last season, Derrick Overstreet (5-8, 170, Sr.) and DeShawn Kinnard (5-11, 170, Sr.), along with Emery Neeley (6-0, 190, Jr.). Playing at the tight end position will be Jaxon Woods (6-2, 230, Sr.). The Ram offense has the ability to hit the home run play or grind out a drive.
