High school students have a lot of things on their plates. Not only do they have to focus on their classroom work, but they also have to start planning on what they will do once they graduate from high school. Chrinasia ‘Nay-Nay’ Elbert says that while attending Owasso High School, she is also beginning to work on her future by attending Tulsa Tech.
“I want to go into the medical field for my career,” she said. “I am in the Health Science Tech program at Tulsa Tech. I heard about it from my older friends that attended and I realized that it could be a benefit for me in the long run.”
Elbert says that the programs at Tulsa Tech are vast and there is a good chance that there is one that could interest every type of person.
“If someone is trying to decide on whether or not to attend, I would say do it,” she said. “It is helping to save me some time by giving me a head start on my future career.”
Chrinasia is a junior at Owasso High School, where she plays basketball, soccer, and is a member of the track team. She says that while she enjoys sports, she also loves the feeling that competing gives her.
“I love the rush of competing,” Elbert said. “Playing alongside my teammates and knowing that we are depending on each other for the team to succeed. Also, putting in the hard work and seeing it pay off is exciting.”
Having played sports for multiple years, Chrinasia has had some memorable moments with her teammates, both on and off the court. But she says that there is one milestone moment that stands out as her favorite.
“Playing in my first varsity game is definitely a moment that I will never forget,” Elbert said. “Seeing all the fans in the stands and knowing that my hard work had paid off was really exciting.”
