Becoming the best athlete that you can be requires a lot of work. While it may be tough at times, Abby Davis says that, simply put, if you want to be your best, you have to give it your best.

“It’s taken a lot of hard work and mental toughness to get where I am today,” she said. “I’ve had success playing soccer but I’ve also had my fair share of disappointment and hardships. Learning how to manage those things and knowing your own ability is very important to be successful and to keep growing as a player.”

Davis is a senior at Owasso High School, where she is a member of the Lady Rams’ soccer team. She usually plays defensive midfield, but sometimes she gets pushed to attacking. She first started playing soccer when she was four or five years old. She says that over that time, she has had the support of some very special people.

“My parents have always been my biggest influences,” she said. “They always push me to be my best and try to support me when I feel like I should be doing better. Someone that is the  biggest role model in the soccer world is definitely Lindsey Horan. I love the way she plays and I try to adapt some of her habits on the field.”

Though she has had some great and memorable moments on the soccer field, Abby says that there is one moment she recalls where all her hard work had paid off.

“The highlight moment of my soccer career has definitely been being recruited to play college soccer. It’s a dream come true. I’ll be attending Western Kentucky University in the fall and playing Division I soccer while also furthering my education.”

Outside of soccer, Davis also enjoys photography. She is taking the photography program at Tulsa Tech. She is also a part of the Leadership Council at Owasso.
