Owasso’s Kaylee Crawford
Owasso senior guard Kaylee Crawford traces her love for basketball back to the family driveway, where her older brother pushed her to chase the game and her potential. What started with casual one-on-one battles became the foundation of a work ethic that now anchors her final season with the Rams.
“My brother has always inspired me,” Crawford said. “He was the reason I picked up a basketball in the first place and always pushed me to be the best I could be.”
Those long hours outside helped shape a competitor who leans on persistence when games and seasons get difficult. “Athletics has taught me to never give up,” she said. “No matter how hard the circumstances get you can always push through.”
Crawford, whose favorite subject is English, brings a thoughtful, steady presence to an Owasso team she describes as “built-in best friends.” “My favorite part of my team is how we all are so close,” she said. “We wouldn’t just hang out inside of basketball, we were all like built in best friends.”
That chemistry shows how the Rams communicate and celebrate, from high-fives after defensive stops to picking up a teammate after a tough stretch.
She credits teammates such as vocal leader Kalai Johnson and constant jokester Katelynn Knight for keeping the gym loud and loose. Crawford also points to sharpshooter Annabelle as the one player who might have her number in a driveway shootout. “Annabelle would beat me in a game of pig,” Crawford said. “Every shot she takes, no matter the difficulty, would always go in.”
Away from games and practices, Crawford is usually working or getting extra shots at the gym, still driven by those early lessons at home. As she closes out her Owasso career, the LeBron James fan hopes to leave behind a legacy of resilience, unselfish play and a team-first mentality built on encouragement and “touches” for everyone on the floor.
