Senior Madalyn Norton is a  multi-sport athlete at Owasso and recently completed her senior fast-pitch softball season with the Lady Rams. Owasso had another great season and made it to the semifinals of the state tournament. Norton was a great contributor throughout the season and said that this season, as a senior, meant a lot to her.

“This year was a lot more personal for me considering this was my last chance to win a state title as a Lady Ram,” Norton said. “I’m extremely proud of how we did this season. Our team overcame a lot.”

Madalyn is not the first Norton to have made an impact on the Lady Ram program in recent years. Her older sister Emilee previously played on the team and graduated in 2020.

“I loved playing with my sister,” Norton said. “She would always push me to be better. My favorite memory with her is when I got to play second base while she was pitching.”

Years ago Emilee started a team cheer before every game and after her graduation Madalyn took on the role. It was an effective way to get the team motivated and focused on the task at hand.

“Before every game we pray and then we get into a circle and clap and we do our cheer,” Norton said. “I absolutely loved leading it. I looked forward to it every game. My sister passed it down to me when I was a freshman.”

While Norton has just finished her senior season in fast-pitch, she will continue her softball career and education next year at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M. Expect the pregame cheer to live on as well in both Owasso and NEO.

Outside of softball Norton is also an excellent student and wants to work toward becoming a sports psychologist. In addition to playing softball Norton also competes for the Owasso track and field team in the spring where she competes in pole vaulting.
