9 Questions with Owasso’s Cross Country & FFA Member Taylor Snyder – Presented by Rib Crib

VYPE: Taylor, when did you become a member of FFA?

Taylor Snyder: I joined FFA my sophomore year just because I didn’t know how it would work around my track and cross country schedule along with caring for my horses at home. I wish I would have done it my freshman year, but I was still unsure if I would be able to multitask with cross country.

VYPE: Who encouraged you to join?
TS: I had a great support system going into it a bunch of friends and family, Ag was always up my alley, and I wanted to show livestock.

VYPE: What have you enjoyed most about FFA?
TS: I enjoy just about everything in FFA. But currently I really enjoy going to livestock shows and being able to compete with my sheep.

VYPE: What activities are you involved in with the chapter?

TS: I am a part of the Show team and am trying livestock judging for the first time this year.

VYPE: What advice would you give someone who is interested in FFA, but is not sure if it’s right for them?
TS: If anyone is considering joining FFA I would tell them to not hesitate and join, FFA is an amazing organization with hundreds of opportunities and there is something for everyone, you get to meet so many amazing people and do so many cool things.

VYPE: What grade are you in this year?
TS: I am a junior this year.

VYPE: When did you start competing in cross country?

TS: I joined XC officially freshman year. I tried distance track in 8th grade and was kind of really good, so I talked with coach C and he got me hooked on XC. It’s definitely one of the greatest things I am able to be a part of. The team is amazing both on the course and off and it’s just such a blessing to be a part of.

VYPE: What do you love most about your team and teammates? Has anyone really impressed you this season?
TS: All the girls on my team are just utterly amazing and I hate having to choose just one. With that being said I would just like to say I am incredibly impressed with my teammate Erin Hendricks, she is a junior this year like me but has always had some sort of major injury when XC season rolls around so this is her first season running XC and she is absolutely killing it.

VYPE: What are your plans for life after high school?
TS: After high school I would like to go to OSU and eventually make it to veterinary school to study to be a large animal vet.
