OWASSO RAMS

Coach: BILL BLANKENSHIP

12-1

OFFENSE
In 2024 the Rams were under the leadership of now Union head coach Antonio Graham who finished the season with the silver ball. His departure opens the door for the return of beloved head coach Bill Blankenship. Coach B returns with son Josh Blankenship serving as the offensive coordinator and QBs coach and Steve Neal as defensive coordinator. The offense remains in the hands of quarterback Drew Frankenfield (6-2, 205, Jr.), a VYPE Top 100 selectee and a player who can sling the ball downfield. Last season as a sophomore he threw for 2,671 yards on 178 completions with 35 touchdowns. Frankenfield returns several players who play key roles in the offense including wide receivers Tah’Kari Bethel (5-10, 160, Sr.), Julius Wilson (6-4, 185, Sr.), and Noah Hill (5-9, 165, Sr.). This lethal trio will challenge every secondary they face this season. “Tae” Bethel had 621 yards and eight TDs last season while Wilson accounted for 305 yards and five scores. Hill was certainly a standout with 1,426 yards receiving and 17TDs. A pair of running backs in Jaden Hall (5-11, 205, Sr.) and Chris Zaferes (5-10, 200, Sr.) give the Rams a legit run game and players they can depend on for tough yards. Tight end Colton Sudbeck (6-2, 200, Sr.) will factor into the offense as a blocker but does have the hands to make some critical receptions. Up front look for Brooks Barron (6-4, 290, Sr.) and Elien Reagan (6-3, 290, Jr.). Barron has a few offers on the table and will likely see more role in this season. The coaching staff includes several notable names including Asa Poteete-assistant head coach/TE, Justin Pruitt-Co-OC/OL, Tim Beacham-WR, Tracy Moore-WR, Brad Calip-RB and Jamie Sumner-OL. Jordan Johnson is back as the strength and conditioning coach.

DEFENSE

The defensive coaching staff is loaded with great players from years past. Josh Dupree is coaching outside linebackers, Charles Granger is coaching the defensive line, Dwight Dobbins has the corners, Dre Thomas is the defensive assistant, Shawn Jackson is coaching inside linebackers and Josh Proctor is coaching safeties. Tahj Overton (6-3, 270, Sr.) will certainly benefit from the tutelage of coach Granger. Last season Overton played big, making five sacks and nine TFLs. His pressure up front allows the secondary to play with confidence knowing the ball is coming out quick. Carter Langenderfer (6-2, 190, Sr.), an Oklahoma State commit, had three interceptions last season with 65 tackles. Topping Langenderfer in the INT category was Cole Campbell (5-11, 170, Jr.) with four picks of his own. Also look for Christian Collazo (6-0, 160, Sr.). Collazo made 21 tackles last season and is expected to see more production this season. Several key players were lost at linebacker, which is the position experiencing the most turnover on defense. The defensive line will need some players to step up and assume larger roles this season. Christian Turner, Myzel Mackson, Ben Duggins, and Eric Johnson are all possible players making an impact up front for the Ram defense.
