OWASSO LADY RAMS

GIRLS

Coach: Kendall Woodward

22-23 Record: 13-12

Owasso returns eight players, including VYPE Top 100 candidate Makenna Yokley, from a team that went 13-12 under head coach Kendall Woodward last season. “This group has improved their chemistry and skill, so we are looking forward to a successful season,” Woodward said. Yokley, a 6-foot-1 senior guard and Missouri Southern State University commit, averaged 15 points and 8.0 rebounds as a junior. “[Makenna] was our MVP and led our team on the stat line and in the locker room,” Woodward said. “She is a mismatch nightmare with her size and ball handling and is also a very good defender.” Sarah Yokley (5-8, G, So.) also returns in the backcourt. “Very excited for this young lady. Has shown a lot of growth this summer,” Woodward said. “Her shot has improved tremendously along with her basketball IQ. She will have moments to play with upperclassmen that should help her grow even faster.” Owasso softball standout Jayell Austin (5-8, F, Jr.) will help in the frontcourt. Austin is an Oklahoma State softball commit. “A young woman who does everything the right way,” Woodward said. “Her basketball skill is rough at times, but her effort is never lacking.” Senior guards Amarion Tease (5-8, G/F, Sr.) and Alex McGarrah (5-7, G, Sr.) are both versatile players for Woodward. “Amarion plays a 3 or 4 position for us. She has improved her inside finishes along with her ball handling skills. We’re looking to use her a lot more this year with the ball in her hands and attacking the rim,” Woodward said. “Alex plays point guard or shooting guard for us. Really great shot and looks to attack the rim. She is tough as nails and can really get it going on defense.” Others expected to play roles for Owasso this year include Kynlie Wilson (5-6, G, Sr.), Addy Ewing (6-1, F, Sr.), Seldon Stover (5-8, G, Sr.), Katelynn Knight (5-8, F, So.), Jerni Fields (5-5, G, So.) and Mackenna Wright (5-4, G, Sr.).
