9 Questions with E-Sports Team Member Hangkong Yang – Presented by Rib Crib

VYPE: We understand you placed at the OKSE state finals. What was that event like for you?
Yang: Yeah, the event was super fun. I saw some familiar competition and competed against
some good people.
VYPE: Do you compete as well and what games do you enjoy playing?
Yang: The only game I compete in is SSBU, but I started to pick up Valorant.
VYPE: What have you enjoyed most about being a member of the team?
Yang: I enjoy are trips. I mostly just sit back and relax till we get to the tourneys, but the
other people make it so much more fun.
VYPE: What’s been your favorite memory or moment competing for Owasso this year?
Yang: Just realizing that I made it to state.
VYPE: In the classroom, what is your favorite subject? Do you belong to any other clubs or
groups at school?
Yang: My favorite subject is math. I’m in a non-profit organization called FCCLA and we
volunteer at food banks and help out with blood drives.
VYPE: What grade are you in and what are your plans after you graduate high school?
Yang: 12th grade and I plan to become an accountant.
VYPE: How has the e-Sports team been received at school and what are you looking
forward to the most as you look ahead to the next few years?
Yang: It’s becoming more and more popular. As long as people are willing to game and get
out of there comfort zone, I believe e-Sports will thrive.
VYPE: How popular do you see e-Sports becoming in Oklahoma?
Yang: A lot of people love to game, but if they want to play competitively then without a
doubt it will become popular.
VYPE: What are you most proud of when you talk about the team and their effort this
season?
Yang: I love the team chemistry. Smash connects a lot of people as long as people are
willing to compete and play against one another then people are always willing to make
new friends.
